Our Team
L. Marvin B. Pinder is the senior attorney at Pinder Commercial Chambers and has practised law in The Bahamas for more than five decades. A native of Spanish Wells, Eleuthera, Marvin combines extensive legal experience with a deep understanding of The Bahamas, its communities and the practical realities of owning property, conducting business and investing throughout the islands.
Marvin was called to the Bahamas Bar in 1974 and has practiced law in The Bahamas for more than 50 years. His practice spans real estate and conveyancing, estates, corporate and commercial law and private client matters, with particular experience in New Providence, Eleuthera and the wider Family Islands.
Real estate and conveyancing have been central to Marvin’s practice throughout his career. He has advised generations of Bahamian and international clients on residential and commercial property, undeveloped land and Family Island transactions, as well as title, financing and related property matters. His extensive experience in traditional Bahamian conveyancing is particularly valuable in matters involving longstanding or complex chains of title. His corporate and commercial practice includes the establishment and administration of Bahamian companies and international business companies and advice to businesses and private clients.
Marvin’s career has also included significant public service. He served as a Member of Parliament from 1987 to 1993 and as Minister of Local Government and Family Island Affairs in the Cabinet of Sir Lynden Pindling. Earlier in his career, he served as Legal Adviser to the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce. These roles have contributed to his broad understanding of business, property and development throughout The Bahamas, particularly in the Family Islands.
Although his legal practice has long been based in Nassau, Marvin has remained deeply connected to his native Spanish Wells throughout his life and career. He represents individuals, families and businesses within the community, including many involved in its fishing and maritime industries. That connection is also personal: Marvin comes from a family with deep roots in the fishing industry, and his father was a pioneer in its development in Spanish Wells, introducing the island’s first motorised fishing boat with a live well.
Marvin’s Family Island roots and more than 50 years in practice form an approach that is practical, direct and grounded in the importance of relationships, reputation and local knowledge. Many of his client relationships span decades and generations. As the firm’s most senior attorney, he brings an invaluable depth of experience and perspective to Pinder Commercial Chambers and its clients throughout The Bahamas.
